Only basic training offered for '08-09 school year
DESCRIPTION:
MS Exchange offers functionality for electronic mail and calendaring/scheduling. Shared service fee supports service components including: technical support, user group meeting, and general phone support (including vendor technical support when needed). Initial system administration training and basic user documentation are also available. Technical team will advise on spam filtering, system back-up, and anti-virus protection for an Exchange environment, but solutions are not included in service.
Note: Any server or CAL (user) licensing costs will be planned and detailed separately, in a WNYRIC project, upon district request.
Special Note: For the '08-'09 school year, ONLY those districts which have already installed an Exchange server (before January 2008), or a district in need of an initial e-mail solution, will be able to participate in this service.
WNYRIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule and facilitate planning as district requests
Configure server(s) and detail the project narrative if a project is involved
Install/test hardware, train district system administrator on basics
Provide training for both end users and system administrator/technician
Provide support by phone, including vendor support when needed
Update WNYRIC web site with service information and documentation
DISTRICT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide district staff to plan implementation
Maintain e-mail accounts for district (adds/deletes/changes)
Monitor server as trained, including mailbox maintenance
Maintain anti-virus and back-up software and schedules
Contact Messaging Help Desk (716-821-7111) for technical support
Report any system difficulties/problems to the WNYRIC for prompt resolution to maintain quality service
Designate a contact person for communications between the WNYRIC and school
(Any change in contact person should be communicated to the Messaging Services team.)
Attend any announced workshops
